Description

Top seller: More than 5 400 000 sold!
This magnet in a steel pot has a countersunk hole and can be fastened with a countersunk screw. It is one of our top sellers because it is versatile and can be used in many applications: in the lighting industry, carpentry, shopfitting, kitchen and bath installations. We also carry this pot magnet with counterbored hole.

The following screws fit into the CSN-16, for example:

  • Slotted countersunk wood screw: DIN 97 (3 mm)
  • Cross recessed countersunk flat head screws (machine screw): ISO 7046-2 M3 (3 mm)
  • Hexalobular socket countersunk flat head screws (machine screw): ISO 14581 M3 (3 mm)
  • Hexagon socket countersunk flat head screws (machine screw): ISO 10642 M3 (3 mm)

Neodymium magnets are brittle and can break under excessive application of force. Therefore, we recommend a maximum tightening torque of 2 Nm when fastening this magnet.

Please note: The full adhesive force is achieved when the ferromagnetic counterpart is smooth and of sufficient thickness and when the pot magnet makes direct and full flush contact. Pot magnets already lose much of their adhesive force at a distance of only half a millimetre to the ferromagnetic surface. This characteristic is more pronounced in pot magnets than in other ferrite and neodymium magnets. You can find additional fascinating information on our FAQ page about pot magnet features.

Magnets are not toys. Please make sure to carefully read our safety instructions.

Additional features and tips

The graph shows the maximum adhesive force in kg (y axis) at various distances in mm (x axis) between pot magnet and counterpart (steel plate).
Example: At a 1 mm distance between pot magnet and steel plate the maximum adhesive force is still 1 kg.
The answer to why you can arrange pot magnets only side by side can be found under our FAQ.
Here you can see the difference between a CSN and a CSN-ES magnet. Although both types have similar dimensions on the outside, the CSN-ES has a thicker steel pot (in grey) and a slightly smaller magnet. This leads to an overall stronger adhesive force, despite the smaller magnet, because the metallic adhesive surfaces are larger.
Since the new CSN-ES magnet is too strong for some of our customers, we also offer the somewhat weaker CSN-alternative.

The structure of pot magnets

Pot magnets have a neodymium or ferrite magnet built into a steel pot. When it comes into direct contact with a surface, its force will be focused on the holding surface as a result. This increases the adhesive force of the magnet. For more information, please refer to our FAQ page on the characteristics of pot magnets.
