These ferrite magnets can be mounted with a countersunk screw. They possess a lower adhesive force than similarly built CSN, but have the following advantages:
- Less expensive than neodymium pot magnets
- Suitable for outdoor use
The following screws fit into the CSF-48, for example:
- Slotted countersunk wood screw: DIN 97 (8 mm)
- Cross recessed countersunk flat head screws (machine screw): ISO 7046-2 M8 (8 mm)
- Countersunk torx screws/hexalobular socket (machine screw): ISO 14581 M8 (8 mm)
- Hexagon socket countersunk flat head screws (machine screw): ISO 10642 M8 (8 mm)
The full adhesive force is achieved when the ferromagnetic counterpart is smooth and of sufficient thickness and when the pot magnet makes direct and full flush contact. Pot magnets already lose much of their adhesive force at a distance of only half a millimetre to the ferromagnetic surface. This characteristic is more pronounced in pot magnets than in other ferrite and neodymium magnets.
When used outdoors, flash rust may develop on the steel pots, but this does not affect the function of the magnets.
