Required materials

To make these unique flower magnets, you will need the following materials:
  • Disc magnets, such as type S-12-01-N
  • Strong adhesive, for example UHU MAX REPAIR
  • Colored paper
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Plastic flowers in different shapes

Cut and fold the petals for the decorative flowers

Choose a piece of paper in the desired colour. Draw six circles with a diameter of approx. 8 cm and cut them out. Use a ruler or a compass to measure the diameter. Then fold all the circles three times. Make sure that the edges are folded well to ensure a good result.

Our tip: Use different colours for more interesting combinations. For example, a lighter colour for the inside of the flower magnet. Two circles in that colour will be sufficient.

Draw and cut out the flower shape

With a pencil, draw the shape of a flower on the folded paper; you can use our example as a guide. Then carefully cut out the shape. If the petals are too close to each other, simply make an incision between the petals towards the centre so that the petals are separated.

Cut the petals to give them the correct shape

Cut the flowers into the same shapes as shown in the picture. The protruding corner is needed to correctly shape the flower petals. For that, the glue is applied to the protruding corner and attached to the outside of the petal. There is no incision in the outermost petal.
If you are using different colours and want the lighter colour to be on the inside of the flower magnet, cut those into the smaller shapes. The darker colour will be used for the larger petals.

Shape the paper petals and glue the individual parts together

Shape all the flower petals by applying glue to the protruding corner and attach it to the outside of the petal. Hold it until the petal has dried a little and holds its shape. Leave the individual pieces to dry for a few minutes before gluing two petals together. Repeat this process until the entire paper flower for the flower magnet is assembled.

Attach a magnet to the back

Glue a magnet, such as a disc magnet type S-12-01-N, to the back of the flower.
Important: Wait until the entire flower magnet has dried before attaching it to a ferromagnetic surface. Proceed with care when removing the flower magnet to avoid twisting the paper out of shape or ripping it.
Note from the supermagnete team:
In addition to these craft instructions, there are many other options for making flower magnets. Many variations for paper flowers exist, such as roses, for example. You can also fashion decorative flowers from felt or attach a magnet to plastic flowers. Create your own flower garden with your favourite flowers in different shapes and colours.
