[126] The super-fast car tentAuthor: Stefan Troitzsch, Stuttgart, Germany Sleep comfortably in the car thanks to the flexible tent | ||||||||||||

When you sleep in the car (here: the new Renault Kangoo), there is often little air, especially when it's warm. You want to open the boot lid, but then you practically lie out in the open. Not so good. So, you throw a tent over the boot lid. Great, but how do you fasten it???
Easy: Buy some fabric (not too heavy, in my case 275 g per running meter at a width of 1,40 m), make up a tent, sew in some zippers, don't forget the fly-screen on the inside, make some hemstitches, slide in some magnets, close up the hemstitches, so the magnets stay there. Done! This costs about 50 Euros with all materials (26 block magnets @ 0,8 Euros, 9 m of fabric @ 3 Euros, 4 m of endless zipper, lots of sewing thread (there is almost 100 m of seam!).
That's how you best sew the hemstitch: Sew an additional protruding hemline, with which you can easily take off the fabric together with the magnets.
That's how you slide in the magnets. I used 10 x 5 mm block magnets with a 3,8 kg holding power each. I sewed in a total of 26 magnets.
