Here you can see how absurdly huge this magnet is.
The small thing in front is a 1 euro coin.
It is not recommended to ever place the magnet flat on a metal surface without putting anything in between (e.g. several layers of cardboard). It would be practically impossible to remove.
The MONOLITH will be delivered in a wooden box that protects the magnet (and you!). The wooden box is practical but doesn't look all that good. It is not meant to be a gift wrap, but rather a shipping package for industrial use.
Attention: The wooden box is thick enough to protect from injuries, but not enough to keep it from gravitating towards a piece of metal. Therefore, when you plan on putting the box down on a metal table, don't get your finger between the box and the table. If you purchase two or more monoliths, excercise extreme caution.
To open the box, first cut through the adhesive tape.
On the opening side, the lid is kept in place by only one nail.
Therefore, the lid can be turned 180 degrees.
From now on, even more caution and attention is called for!

This magnet can be used at surrounding temperatures of up to 150 degrees Celsius.
Today, this magnet would cost over 300 USD, given that you purchased several hundred of them right from the factory in China.
If the increased temperature resistance is not necessary, it would still cost net over 150 USD. This price would not include transportation costs, VAT and customs duty and would only be attainable for large quantities.
To put it in a nutshell: You'll never get your hands on such a huge neodymium magnet for such a small price again.
The north pole is indicated with an "N", which can be easily removed with some cleaning solvent.
Do you know Kubrick's epic film 2001: A Space Odyssey from the year 1968?
Then you know why we had to call this magnet MONOLITH.
If not: Here is a scene from the film. (If you are impatient, fast-forward to 3:40.)
We can't promise a mind-altering experience upon touching the magnet, however.
For transportation and storage we recommend using the wooden box again. Make sure to secure the box by putting adhesive tape around it, so the lid can't be turned.

Due to several inquiries we'd like to clarify: No, gold is not magnetic.
The ring in the picture is a gold-plated magnet in the shape of a wedding ring, similar to what magicians use sometimes. We don't have the ring in our assortment at this time.

The huge magnet MONOLITH makes for interesting chain structures
A large producer of electric generators changed their range of models, hence, several thousand of these gigantic magnets became available. Since the magnets were produced in 2010, before the huge price increase, we were able to negotiate a great price, which represents only a fraction of what this magnet would cost today.
The MONOLITH has an adhesive force of more than 160 kg and is, therefore, a dangerous magnet and not suitable for magnet novices. Please study the enclosed safety tips carefully.
